The Quiet life

Its the little moments in life.. a summer walk on the beach, a hike up the mountain, handing spare change to the homeless, indulging in ice cream, soaking your feet in the hot-tub, comforting people, road-trip weekends, sports, outdoors, cooking dinner, or catching up on old times; this is the simple life.
I lead that quiet simple life. I do what i need to make a means come to an end, and at the end of the day; I come home to my place of refugee.
I am not run by things of the world, nor do I let them run me; this IS my quiet life pledge to myself.
Enjoy!

Cleaning Messes

I was in Costco today grabbing a few items for the week, and as I turned the corner I noticed a younger couple with 2 kids yelling at each other in Costco as loud as they possibly could. One of the kids started crying, spilled the chocolate milk all over the cart while the couple was fighting. I wanted to rush in and help them, but i knew that it wasn't my place. Instead i hid behind the isle to see this whole drama unfold.

What caught me next about blew me away, and taught me a great life lesson. It doesn't matter who stands corrected, fighting, in this case only made everything worse. The wife got mad at the kid, while the husband yelled at the wife, and the little boy started crying and hitting the sister. Instead of stopping to clean up the mess the mother grabbed the kids walked out;leaving the husband with the embarrassment of everyone around him.
How many times in our life do we have the mop up big messes. Do we have a valid reaction to react instead of think without thought behind the actions. As I reflected back on the week, and even the past month of all my messy situations, was i really justified for how i acted good or bad? Did I take time to truly think about what I was doing, and who would be affected by the actions & reactions that I caused?
The whole moral to the story is are you willing to clean up your mess, or just walk away. Sometimes taking the few moments to ponder, not solve, may help you with a less stickier situation for the future, and a lot lesser embarrassment for all.

UNthankful

You would think that the this blog would be dedicated to the word THANKFUL.. as in Thanksgiving. However I thought it would be interesting to figure out what I was UNthankful for. After contemplating that thought in my mind, I couldn't really think of much (beyond the basic) items that I was UNthankful for. Driving this morning I was looking around for things that I would be UNthankful and noticed that I did actually come up with many things that would not like to battle with each day. Interesting enough, seeing all things that I wouldn't like to face, made me grateful for the things that I do have, even the small things. As life situations hit us each day are we prepared for the thankful for what we do have, and how maybe the  creator is humbling us for the battles that we face. Wither it be a flat tire, a empty bank account, a accident, sickness, a lost of a loved one, are we not grateful for the lesson that we are getting or being prepared for. Next time in your life when you have one of those "why me" days, stop and think.. what am i  UNgrateful for. Maybe your perspective will change.

Fighting Hard

Heading to the grocery store today I saw a much hunched completely over pushing his walker to head into the grocery store. As i passed him I could see the determination on his mind that he was going to get in that store and do what he needed to do in order for him to survive. I noticed on his walked a sticker that stated "though I fought hard, I am still fighting." I am reminded of all the little battles that we each face in our own lives, and the lessons that we learn from each of those battles. I think of this man hunched over the fighting that he had to do to even get to the store;let alone shop. Am i personally determined to fight  this hard for anything in my life? My mind also reflected back to the veterans day parade  that I was able to help out this past week. The courage that the man and woman had to face each day on the battle ground is something I could not fathom. I am not a wimp by any means, and I am sure that if push came to shove I would've done anything for my country, and the fight for survival. What the man and woman gave to all of us and still do, is something I will not take lightly.
The past year for me also has been a fighting cause. I have done a lot of changes in my life that have made me "fight" to find whom I am.. I have come to learn that the past mistakes and lessons prepare you for the now in the smallest of ways. There have been times lately where I feel that i need to just give in, but something in me says you can make it one more day. I hope that the lesson from this hunched over man will be constant reminder to me that no matter what battle you face for the week, day, or even hour that you can do anything as long as you still fight, and fight hard.

Wrestling Within

It seems that all my thoughts come to me at the most sleep deprived times in my life. I keep wondering if there is something that is wrong with me or if I am just that worried about something that my body won't let it go;or if I am just plain psychotic!!!
In my adventures this week I decided that I was going to do some forgiving. I have struggled to be the good person in a really bad situation, but this is a part of my life chapter that i just want it to be closed. Instead of getting upset, or even hurt, I decided to be the bigger man; as the good lord and mamma taught in sunday school . I wanted to communicate to this person that I was grateful to have them in my life, but that in order for me to move forward, I had to let go of the past.
Before I approached the situation I thought long and hard about how i would be able to communicate everything that was plaguing my mind. Without notice I found myself turning in a spiritual reading store before heading to talk to this person.
I kept a "Open mind" going into the reading, letting god know, "hey if you want to talk to me, here is your chance."
I can't really go into all the details about what i heard, but I did walk out of there with a whole new perspective on what needed to be done. i no longer was wrestling within.
